I am finished all of my finals. This term was tough and in return I improved a lot. Here are some pieces I did for my "Apocalypto Dos" presentation:

Our hero character. He begins the movie by trying to bring Christianity to the Mayans.

The style on all the pieces changes because I was experimenting to keep myself interested and learn more. It was too easy to crank them out all in one style.

This assignment is for my Storyboarding final. I had to write a movie and storyboard it in 120 panels (40 pages).

My movie begins with an intergalactic war. Our fantasy figure's space craft gets shot before jumping into hyperspace. He comes into earths orbit as a ball of fire and lands in a river behind the paralyzed girl’s house. When the pilot emerges we see he's….A CAT! But he walks vertical and has a little space suit. He can read minds and makes fish-kabobs with his laser gun. He also walks around on 4 legs to be stealth but still wears a cat utility belt… It has a sad ending. Here are 5 key color frames from my boards.

I only have 2 days left of school! I can't wait till I head back home and take a break. During the term I thought I wasn't working hard enough because doing the work seemed easier than normal. When finals rolled around I didn't sleep three nights out of the week and I started to reconize the hard work I was putting in. Here's two of my finals:

I'm in my 4th term of school now. That means I'm halfway done. This term is going well I'm enjoying all my classes. I'm enrolled in the Entertainment Arts minor so the classes are more fun to me. During my first term at Artcenter I started getting annoyed by the amount of stupid but serious posters I saw on the wall. For some reason I just couldn't walk around without thinking about these bad posters. So I started making my own posters and I was determined to have the worst designs with the intent to distract people to look at the fake posters I made instead of the serious dumb ones other people made. It was a weird idea but it made me a lot happier to walk around school. So here are a few that I made:

1. This is the first one. I did this during the fire season in California. I know a guy that believes phoenix are real so that's all it took to inspire this.

2. Kids started making some clubs that seemed really pointless and dumb to me. So I made up this club. After I had posted it all over school I saw in the school bulletin that horse riding club was now offered and that's when I realized no one cares what goes in the bulletin.

3. There's a lot of people at my school with really nice cars. That's cool but some people had to try and drive as fast as possible under a bridge connected to my school. The echo would be really loud and this annoyed me while I worked in the library. The school eventually stopped everyone by issuing a ton of tickets.

4. At my school we have a drying room where we store wet paintings. Some kids who really make me angry would steal fresh paintings and scrape off the paint so they could use the canvases. I made this one and hung it on the drying room door.

After I saw my school publish the horse riding club in the activities bulletin I just lost interest in making anymore. I printed them on newsprint or found scrap paper and I would pull them out of the printer early just so they looked real ugly.

My term is going well. I don't have anything to put online I've just been practicing a lot. I'm getting tired of being broke so I'm gonna get a store setup on here so this website can do something for me. I'll sell shirts and maybe some small paintings. Surrounding his head will be catfish but each one will be a different color and I'm going to make octopi in the big blue shape at the bottom. The size is 35"x48", it's a fun painting.

Here's my process for an assignment.

Then I messed with full body poses, I didn't design the hero yet, so I just used generic bodies to focus on limbs and details for the finished piece: cf4.jpg, cf3.jpg, cf2.jpg, cf5.jpg, cf6.jpg, cf8.jpg

I chose cf8. I scanned it then traced it in photoshop and added quick color: cf9.jpg

My teacher liked the flying pose the best so I'm going to re-draw it then take it back into photoshop.

Here's an update on the painting I'm working on. I still have a lot more to do. I'm going to tighten up the hands so they are rendered out and same with the shoes. This painting is still basically all grays and I just started adding the brighter lights in the sky but I'm going to bring out the light areas in the whole thing before it's done.

School is going great and my classes are helping me improve quickly. I added James Jean to the links section. I started a painting based off a sketch and I'll post photos as I finish it. I've already painted him on a huge cloud and the perspective goes back really far.
